How to find us

All of the Institute buildings (MRC HGU, CGEM, ECRC and the IGMM building) are accessed through a single entrance, with all visitors reporting to reception. 


Parking on site is restricted to permit holders and hospital visitors. The areas surrounding the hospital campus include some City of Edinburgh Council pay and display parking.


Bike parking is available on the North East edge of the complex.

IGMM scientific statement

The MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh (IGMM) is based at the Western General Hospital campus in Edinburgh.


Our Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine building physically links the three main buildings of the Institute: the MRC Human Genetics Unit (MRC HGU), the Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine (CGEM) and the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre (ECRC).
